Metro Asset Center is the solution that covers all processes for managing content like images, videos and other assets. One of the features that allow maintaining the product images is the possibility to publish assets in Content Delivery Network (CDN) for fast access and distribution among the content consumers. Below please find the description of how to publish the assets in CDN.

Process of product assets publishing (CDN, Spaceman)


The process of product assets publishing is automated as soon as they are approved (approval process described here https://metroassetcenter.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/15000028027).


All product asset types are supported for publication to CDN except Planogram (POG), the list is at the article https://metroassetcenter.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/15000035034. Planogram images are normalized and published to Spaceman.


File formats and public links for image, document, video


Not all file formats are supported for publication. Find the list in the article https://metroassetcenter.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/15000035306.


In MAC Public URL is visible on Asset Details (https://metroassetcenter.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/15000027991)


For an image MAC generates a single link.


Normalization for images:

  1. For JPEG, JPG, TIFF, TIF, PNG, DNG, EPS, BMP:
    • file format: PNG, keep alpha channel
    • resolution: 72dpi
    • dimensions: 1280px along the biggest side, second side - relative
  2. Animated and one-frame GIF
    • no normalization
  3. TIF, TIFF with clipping path


For documents MAC generates a single link. 


For video MAC generates 3 links and create three copies of the original video file in MP4 format with the predefined size:

  • 360p (480 x 360)
  • 480p (640x480)
  • 720p (1280×720)


The link is available and can be retrieved via API MAC Access Layer - user guide https://confluence.metrosystems.net/display/MAC/%5BMAL+REST+API%5D+Version+1.0.


Image resizer

Publishing of the other content

Banners, Category Images, Own Brands & Catalogues are approved for publishing to CDN automatically if they are uploaded via MUA (user guide https://metroassetcenter.freshdesk.com/a/solutions/articles/15000034180). The normalization rules are the same, see above.


Marketing and other content is not published. Note, there is no way to publish the content manually from the MAC user interface. Please contact our support for help.
