Watermarks are translucent images which can be displayed on top of asset thumbnails and previews to indicate usage restrictions applied per asset. 

Restricted assets are available in MAC with visible watermark and disclaimer text embedded into preview. User is able to download the master file of restricted asset without watermark, except assets which are indicated as "Expired" which are not available for download. 


The following watermarks can be displayed in MAC:


"Undefined"

Watermark "Undefined" is assigned to the asset by default if usage rights are not defined (field Rights Management (RM) is empty). Before usage, ask author or uploader. 

"Rights Managed"

If the value of record field Rights Management (RM) is set to "Creative Commons" or "Rights Managed", then watermark "Rights Managed" is assigned to the asset automatically.


"Expired"

Watermark "Expired" appears on top of the asset preview when defined RM End Date comes. 

Note that download of all master file versions is restricted for expired assets. To extend usage period Content Manager can approach asset owner.


"Expired Soon"

The watermark is assigned automatically for asset which will expire in less than 3 months.


"Regionally Restricted"

If record field Restricted Region is not empty, which means that asset usage is restricted to a region, then watermark "Regionally restricted" is assigned to the asset.

Priority for watermarks in case of conflict (from high to low):

  1. Expired
  2. Expiring Soon
  3. Regionally restricted
  4. Rights Managed


Define Usage Rights

Usage rights can be defined per asset by Content Editor or Content Manager in attributes of field group "Usage".
