MAC Asset Director is an application intended for validation and quality assurance of product assets provided from different data sources for upload to MAC. 

With MAC Asset Director you are capable to review all assets pending uploading into MAC, as well you are able to edit some metadata for the assets existing in MAC. In the article below the main user flow and all the main functionality are described.

How do I access MAC Asset Director?


MAC Asset Director is available by the link: https://mad-dam.mac.metro-group.com/

If you are an employee of METRO/Makro, sign in as METRO/Makro employee via "Login for Metro/Makro employees" button (1)

If you are an external vendor, sign in as external vendor with individual Login and Password (2).

To get MAC credentials external vendors have to submit a request to MAC helpdesk using MAC Online Support form.



Note: access to MAC Asset Director is available for METRO/Makro employees authorized to approve content in MAC for a dedicated country (User Group - Country Content Manager in MAC).


Change languages

The system support 3 languages: English (default), German and French. The button to switch is located on the left panel.



Review new assets and assets existing in MAC

MAC Asset Director is the tool that provides you with capability to manage: new assets and assets existing in MAC.

First of all, when you access MAC Asset Director, you may find detailed information about assets.

  1. List of articles "To Do" - it can be empty, if there no new assets pending validation
  2. Assets available for the selected article in the system: 
    • New assets pending validation
    • Assets which already exist in MAC
  3. Large preview and additional information for the selected asset



The following information is provided for each asset in assets list:

  


  • Data Source - the source provided an asset
  • Sequence number - sequence number corresponding to the product view (State - Angle - Facing), as well must be unique for asset in an article existing in MAC
  • Product view - State-Angle-Facing parameters defining product view on the image
  • File format
  • Quality cluster - cluster defining image quality (Low/Web/High Resolution/Print Resolution) 
  • Date:
    • New assets: Validated on - the date when a file has passed technical validation, only acceptable quality files are available in MAC Asset Director
    • Existing assets in MAC: Updated on - the date of last asset's update in MAC


More details on the right side of the screen:

  • Image technical characteristics - image dimensions, resolution and file size, uploader name (for images in MAC)
  • Image preview and zoom in option
  • Article details, such as:
    • GTIN
    • MGB article number
    • Variant
    • Sales bundle
    • Merchandise group
    • Article description
    • Channel


Select asset id type: MGB or GTIN number


You can select which ID type is displayed in article list in application settings. The following options are available:

- Full MGB article number

- GTIN number

- Both ID's

All articles in To Do list will be displayed with selected ID type



Search and Filtering


To find the article you are looking for in To Do list you can use text search. Just start typing the article number in search field, and application will show only the articles which match with your search request



You can also filter the list of articles by Data Source or/and by RFI number, if you working on articles provided by supplier in Article Portlet. To open filter panel just click on the filter icon in the header of To Do list.

You can also combine filters and text search to refine search results.





Note, GTIN is searched without leading zeroes.


Review and specify Product View set for an asset


There are a number of basic Product View sets are available on the second tab on the right side of the screen.
The table contains 8 Standard Product View sets and 1 Custom set. The Product View sets are defined as a set of parameters:


State - Angle - Facing - Standard Number (SN)

You should select a suitable Product View set based on image view available. If there is no corresponding set on the panel of Standard sets, then select Custom set and choose appropriate values for the parameters State - Angle - Facing and SN.


Note:

  1. State field is mandatory, otherwise you will not be able to save asset in MAC
  2. You can not save in MAC a few asset with the same SN for an article, you should use Custom set and differ SNs for that

As well you are enabled to apply and save changes to State - Angle - Facing and SN for assets existing in MAC, refer to the part "Update Product View parameters for an asset in MAC".

Manage new and existing assets in MAC Asset Director

There are a number of articles that contain new assets in the left "To Do" column.

For every new asset you need to take a decision - to specify an appropriate Product View set and SAVE it in MAC or DELETE it from the "To Do" list. 


Saving new assets in MAC

When you have specified Product View set for a new asset, then you need to press "Save" button to submit saving asset in MAC. When the asset was successfully submitted, the asset disappears from the list of new assets in the second column. The asset will appear in the list of existing assets above as soon as a new record will be created in MAC. When you will complete all the new assets for an article, then the article will disappear from the "To Do" list. Multiple assets saving is available using checkbox on the asset thumbnail in the list of new assets.



Note: 

Before saving asset in MAC the system will automatically verify the following criteria: 

  1. State field is populated
  2. There are no assets with the same SN in MAC


Replace existing asset in MAC with new asset

If you need to replace existing asset in MAC with new asset, then you may use Replace option. For that, select a single new asset and press Replace button. Replace form gets opened, where you may select an existing asset in MAC to be replaced with new. As a result new asset will disappear from the list of new assets and existing asset in MAC will be updated soon. If there are assets with the same SN in MAC, than Replace dialogue form will provide only with the assets with the same SN.



Delete new assets

If new assets are low quality or there is any other reason not to save it in MAC, then you may select a single or multiple new assets and delete it from the list of new. If there are no new asset left in the article, then the article will disappear from the "To Do" list.



Delete an asset from MAC


To delete an asset from MAC click on asset in the list IN MAC and then click Delete button. Selected asset will be permanently deleted from MAC. Please note that the delete action cannot be undone.




Update Product View parameters for an asset in MAC

You are able to select another Product view set for the assets existing in MAC and save the changes in MAC. For that you need to press Save button.

The changes should be compliant with the rules:

  1. State field is populated
  2. There are no assets with the same SN in MAC
